On Fear by Tagore

“Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.

Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but

for the heart to conquer it.”

Rabindranath Tagore

"Unless it be the dangers and pains of my children or some children in a sad story I heard in the news, then let them be mine instead if beyond some reasonable amount. For these I would pray and beg."

-That's what my mind added when I contemplated these wise words. Though I believe that means I am yet missing the point and simply redefining my own fears and pains born of sympathy and empathy.
